Fashion Timeline: 1760-1810

Year: ca 1770-1779
Style: Georgian
Dresses: Caraco à la française & robe retroussée dans les poches
Description: 1) Caraco with loose-flowing pleats at the back, in the style of the robe à la française; 2) Style in which the overskirt is pulled out from the side pockets and the back is draped like a robe à la française (from "Galerie des Modes").

More dresses in flat colors! Here are the 1770s characters.

Although hair reached enormous heights during this period, I decided not draw 10 ft head dresses because they're just a horrible stereotype; not every woman wore her hair that high >O> And yay for drawing powdered hair? My only regret is that their hairstyles remind me of those hideous poodle-wigs they wore in Amadeus -__-;; Other than that, I love the way these two turned out.

I also tried to make my lines thicker because, as some people rightly pointed out on my last deviation, the patterns made it hard to tell where all the folds in the clothing are. So, I hope this is a little better.

PS: And I'm sory if I seem a little dead on DA! I know I haven't been responding to comments and stuff; I doubt I'll have any time to really talk to people since I still have to finish 6 more dresses... and I'm really, really pressed for time .___.;; I have to spend every spare moment of my time working on this project or I'll never finish...

PPS: FYI, the second dress is based on a costume from the Kyoto Costume Institute :D

Very pretty.
Though I've sort of thought to myself whenever I saw pictures of dresses like these: "How did those women manage to move around in such heavy layers of fabric & tight corsets"?

Anyway,great art.
