Fallene Gabrielle Falburne
Here, we have the first of what is going to be an on-going series of profile images for the AFoR series. My plan is to draw two primary images for each character, a basic character reference image (which you see here) and a more poster-style image. Then, I'm hoping to add to the pile of character images, drawing the characters in various outfits from different angles and such, that way I can slowly accumulate little portfolios of reference images for each character. That's the plan at least...
Anyway, those who've been following me on Tumblr for a while know that this image and outfit have gone through one too many revisions; I kept redrawing it because I've really been pressuring myself to develop a solid art style for these characters, and I've been very picky with anatomy. I've also been forcing myself to focus much more on costume details. But I think it's all paid off.
I'm very happy with Fallene's travel outfit, and I'm even happier with how her character design has evolved; she looks like she stepped out of a costume flick, but not necessarily a historical period. The costuming for my characters has become very eclectic, which I like. There are a lot of influences from Eastern European folk costumes as well as 18th and late 19th century costumes. This was also the first time I really thought about jewelry, which is something I've neglected in the past. I blame Kaoru Mori |D;; Her artwork has had a big influence on everything I do lately. Not that I mind.
Fallene's hair is still as complicated as ever, though |D;;;

ive been following you for years now and I have to say....i like your other style better. I do love this outfit and love her hair but the face is all different and well...i juts like your other style so much more....i feel so bad for giving you my opinion when you hardly know me and I am have no right to speak up. Your like an art goddess to me. Lol
Don't feel bad! I appreciate your honesty! Which "old" style do you prefer? I always feel like my style keeps changing with every picture I upload, so when people comment about liking one style over another, I'm never really sure which style they're referring to
Oh! That style I think I just naturally moved away from that style; I remember that it reached a certain point where the lines were so "sharp" and "severe" that it became really limiting. Although I still like some of the stuff I drew during that period.
Well I love any of your work none the less and talking to you right now feels like Im talking to a celebrity. I really hope that flock of ravens is made into a book because Im dying to read and be like "I followed this person on DA since I was 14!"
Those colours <3
