Orchids by Seitou Orchids by Seitou

Ever since seeing the film Chéri, I've been completely obsessed with Edwardian fashion, and... I actually really like how this turned out! The only downside to viewing this on the computer is that you miss a lot of the details― that hat seriously took me forever to ink. The dark colors also conceal a lot of the inking details, but the important stuff is visible.

I want to do more art nouveau styled pieces!

Hmm... Can you take some critic? I like how your desings of patterns. You are very good in that. I usually like details and clothing layers in your works too, but here it is pretty confusing. She has a brown dress, okay. And a brown... furcoat? Okay. AND a (very beautiful) shawl. I like that fur and shawl are a bit too much together. Furs colour is also so close to the color you have used in dress, that I first thought she had fursleeves, and dress would be sleeveless. Her lower body is (forgive me my rude language) fucked up. I have no idea how she is sitting. The brown dress suddenly ending and a lot of light lila petticoat isn´t working either. It took me way too long to figure out that lila dress is the petticoat, and not just cloth covering the seat or something. I had to stare this picture ten minutes or so, to be able to make sense, WHAT she actually is wearing. I love that hat, but it doesn´t look like she is actually wearing it. It looks more like the hat had been filled with paper and then putted on top of her head. You also need a bit more practice with furs, but that is under work isn´t it. So no more talk about that. The big orchids looks like made of wax, but if they actually are waxflowers... then I´ll shut up.

Hopefully I didn´t smash your pride as an artist too hard, because you ARE a great artist, and so far one of my favourites here in deviantart. This picture is not what I would consider as a great work, not from you, but you certainly do have works to blow up anybodys mind. Even such a critical nitpickers as me.

This turned out really nice. I had become accustomed to your palette of earth tones and was pleasantly surprised to find hues of rose, red, and burgundy brown with a touch of purple accent. The cheerful cartoon figures have been replaced by a solemn, thoughtful figure. I have always enjoys the detail and love that goes into your dresses and this image is cut from the same fine cloth. It's true that you have been gone for a while. But you certainly know how to make an entrance.

Wow, she's absolutely stunning. Though you mention losing a lot of details, I think the ones that are visible are well done.

I forgot to mention- Red and purple usually clash and generally don't work well together, but this looks really really nice. You picked just the right colors to compliment instead of clash.

I haven't seen anything from you in a while, this is really nice to look at. I love the reds and blues, and you did a great job using values too. Way to go! Gorgeous!
