What is Classical Lolita fashion?
Classical Lolita is one of the subsets of Lolita fashion, a style of street fashion that originated in Japan during the 1980s. The fashion is largely an adaptation of Victorian clothing, mimicking the attention to detail as well as the bell-shaped silhouette of the knee-length skirts that were worn by Victorian girls; Lolita fashion also borrows certain elements from the Rococo fashions of the 18th century. While the fashion stresses elegance and modesty, it largely builds on the principle that "dress is a form of art." Classical Lolita, in particular, is the most historically-oriented subset, as it aims to create a more mature look than the others, namely Sweet Lolita. As with all the other styles, Classical Lolita stresses modesty and elegance, but it places extra emphasis on elegance; this style is mature, refined, and classy, but also youthful. The most notable Classical Lolita brands include Innocent World, Mary Magdalene, Victorian Maiden, and Juliette et Justine.

Pink and Plum Polka Dots

Another re-hashed design from LM! Although I went in a completely different direction this time; this version is much sweeter but still feels more like a traditional classic lolita outfit, rather than some of the really 20's based designs I've been doing lately. I went with a taupe turtleneck sweater that has mauve polka dots in addition to a mauve collar and cuffs. The skirt kind of got wrecked with the color filters, though. It looks a lot more mauve and pink... but the tapestry pattern was originally pink, red, and purple with large pink buttons, and a brown trim and brown knife pleats, which are part of a faux underskirt. I like the idea of a lolita skirt that uses an oriental-inspired tapestry pattern because it can work nicely in a traditional classic out or a more '20s themed outfit, since exoticism dominated the late Victorian period through the 1920s.

And I know it's probably hard to see, but Dahlia is wearing tights! This time I gave her a pair sheer cream tights with cream polka dots. Sheer tights are kind of a taboo in lolita fashion, but I think it's alright as long as you wear a taller pair of boots to help cover up your legs.

I must agree with you. That design on a skirt looks fabulous! I also quite love the turtleneck sweater. I've always been a fan of those, and your design here looks cozy and lovely. Keep up the brilliant work! :D
