Summertime Swing by Seitou Summertime Swing by Seitou
I was going to wait a bit before uploading this, but I changed my mind :meow:

For some reason, the '20s through the '40s are starting to be a major influence for me. I blame the music. I've been listening to far too much swing and blues music lately... as you can probably tell... >3>

But... yay for more retro Lolita fashion? The Rococo and Victorian aesthetics are great and all, but pretty much everything I see on brand Lolita sites is starting to look the same; no one seems interested in pulling from other influences-- like the '20s! The Roaring '20s might not seem the ideal era to pull influences from, but this period lends itself surprisingly well to Lolita fashion. I love the idea of utilizing elaborate beading, chiffon ruffles, and more flamboyant accesories (please excuse the poorly drawn sunflowers ;_; ).

On another note... I don't actually recommend swing dancing while wearing Lolita.

This design is stunning. Really, I can't stop staring! 20s - 40s music is quite amazing, and so are designs! I'm really happy to know that this piece was based off of that. I would wear that. I would sooooo wear that. I wonder.... if I could make clothes (I can't, ah ha), would you give me permission to make this dress and wear it, just for myself? Of course, crediting you.

Thank you :D Yes, I don't mind if people want to make my clothing designs, just as long as they're not selling anything, lol.

Thank you :D I always save coloring for last, so normally try out several different color schemes and change them as I go along.

Oooh I love the beading, I can imagine it would make a lovely sound when worn. This is a gorgeous design, and definitely more wearable than most of the stuff on brand websites.

Thank you :D Yeah, some of the stuff on the brand sites is just so over-the-top @__@;; And very little of it is practical for the spring and summer...

This is adorable

I totally agree about the pulling influences thing. I would be all over some lolita fashion if the outfits found ways to take influences from Josephine Baker (). Huge feathers, lots of lace, layers of pearls. Just without all of the chest exposure, hah hah hah. I think classical lolita could take to the 1920's very well.
The 1940's and 30's might be the hardest to mix, since they went so far away from frills, but the music IS awesome

Thank you :D The '30s and '40s could work, but the clothes back then were kind of toned-down, so they'd probably be better influences for a casual lolita. Though they had some really cute hats in the '30s and '40s :meow:

Dude, that era is good for so much more than people give it credit for. Usually people are just like "Flappers. Prohibition. Gangsters. Depression." and call it good, without really looking at all. Such a sad, sad story!

I know! The early 20th century is always stereotyped so badly D:
