Really, I do.  This is my favorite time of year, and, although I haven't been as active on dA as I'd hoped to be, things are going very well.

I finished my thesis on vampirism and Victorian Decadence back in the spring, and I'll finally be receiving my MA in English later in October, but, for all practical purposes, I'm done with graduate school.  This means that I'm free to return to writing full time― and I already have.

I seriously started knuckling down on my writing the minute I was done with my thesis, and it's been going surprisingly well!  While I still haven't reached the halfway point, I can at least say that, as of now, I've made it to part two of my three part novel and am close to a 54,000 word count.  The only disappointment  is that I'm a rather slow writer |D  But I don't mind writing slowly as long as I'm happy with what I'm writing.  As I approach the end of the novel, I hope that I'll be able to release more information about it.  For now, all I can really say is this:

The novel is very loosely based on one of the more obscure Grimms' fairy tales.  Set in the late 19th century, it is the story of a very bitter and spoiled 15-year-old girl named Heather who is orphaned and sent to live in the countryside with her sickly aunt.  There, she quickly comes into conflict with her cousins as well as the other peculiar residents who live on the estate.  Ever stubborn and prideful, Heather vows that she will never accept her new home nor her aunt's kindness, but it is a vow that she might soon come to regret when she discovers an abandoned manor house and finds herself drawn to the young man who tends to its gardens― and the secret that he keeps.

So, that's not an official summary or anything, but it's the only "working summary" that I have at the moment.  It's really hard for me to figure out how to summarize this story without giving away too much or making it seem like something that it's not; I don't want it to come across as a girl-meets-young-man type of YA romance because that's not at all what it is (although it might seem that way at first).  It is a dark fairy tale that follows very much in the Gothic tradition, and hopefully the above summary makes that clear.

Other than writing, I'm back to grading essays during the day |D;;;  As well as working on art.  Even though A Flock of Ravens is on hiatus while I'm working on my novel, I'm at least using whatever time I can to do character art and brainstorming that way I'll be ready to tackle the project when I get the chance.  But for updates on my writing or sketch posts and stuff, I recommend following my Tumblr.  I'm super-active on Tumblr XD

Also, is it just me, or has dA gotten rid of all its silly advertisements? :'DDD

I'm happy to read things are going so well for you, and I'm also a strong lover of the autumn season! Your series sounds great. I'm also a fan of the Grimm fairy tales, and I'm working on reading through all of them. Which one of them inspired you? I'd love to read your work if the chance ever came around.

:)

You seem like such an awesome person, and I have to say if I could know you outside of the internet it would be an honor. I always look at your artwork or what you post on Tumblr and just think, "There's something really amazing about this person."

I really wish I could say which fairy tale I used, but I can't reveal those sorts of details just yet, as they're potentially spoiler-ish-- but I think the surprise will be worth the wait!
